LDPE LFI2119

LFI 2119 is a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) designed specifically for excellent optical properties and high performance in film applications. This LDPE grade offers high output and good drawdown capabilities which makes it ideal for producing general-purpose thin films. LFI 2119 is manufactured using SABTEC licensed technology, ensuring consistent high quality products.

Product Characteristics

Optical Properties: LFI 2119 has amazing clarity necessary for clear or see-through packaging applications.

Good Toughness and Melt Strength: The resin possesses strong physical characteristics such as high toughness, melt strength among others that enable it to withstand different processing conditions as well as end use environments.

Additives: Antioxidants are included in the formulation so as to improve stability and lifetime of the material but no antiblock or slip agents are added hence films exhibit good frictional properties throughout their service life.

Key Applications

LFI 2119 is mainly utilized in blown film extrusion processes where it finds wide usage including but not limited to:

Packaging Film: Particularly useful when making packaging films requiring both clarity and strength for secure protection with visible contents display.

General Lamination Films: Ideal choice for laminating applications where extra film strength combined with improved clarity enhances multilayer structures’ protective nature.

Typical Properties

Melt Flow Index (MFI): Material flows easily during extrusion at a rate of 1.9 dg/min measured at 190°C/2.16 kg indicating ease of processing.

Density: The density stands at 921 kg/m³ thus contributing towards durability and workability of the resultant films.

Impact Strength: Withstands sudden blows effectively having an impact strength value equal to 26 kJ/m.

Tear Strength: Exhibits significant tear resistance with respect to directionality giving transverse (25 kN/m) vs machine (60 kN/m).

Yield Stress: Provides structural integrity through maintenance of yield stress – 11 MPa (TD) and 13 MPa (MD).

Tensile Stress at Break: Strength properties are indicated by higher tensile values recorded in MD (35 MPa) as compared to TD (20 MPa).

Strain at Break: Flexibility is evident from over 500% strain observed along TD while MD records above 150%.

Modulus of Elasticity: Material stiffness which affects handling and performance is reflected by moduli equal to 200 MPa (TD) and 190 MPa (MD).

Optical Measurements

Haze: Cloudiness level is low with only 9% haze thus enhancing transparency.

Gloss: Measurement taken at a 45° angle gives 55 GU signifying high shine on the film surface.

Clarity: Visually clearness was quantified using clarity value of 21 mV.

Recommended Processing Conditions

Extruder Temperature Profile: Optimize properties during film blowing process by maintaining temperature within the range of165-185°C.

Blow Up Ratio: Mechanical versus dimensional attributes balance can be attained through selection of appropriate blow up ratio ranging between2 and3 .

Film Thickness: Versatility in application thickness is achieved since this grade can produce films ranging from20-50 μm thick.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Guidelines

Handling and Safety: Although LFI2119 has been produced under strict control; it needs special precautions against exposure to degradation products that may cause irritations or harm.

Storage Recommendations: Good storage practice requires keeping in dry conditions away from direct sunlight or heat sources so as not impair its quality.

LFI 2119 offers manufacturers a premium LDPE option that delivers excellent clarity and strength for film applications alongside strong processing capabilities, while being environmentally stable.
