ABS SH0150

ABS SH0150 is a high flow grade of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene known for its excellent toughness, high impact strength, and superior mechanical properties at low temperatures. This grade offers good processability, vacuum formability, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability, making it particularly suitable for thin sheets and refrigerator liner sheets.

Key Features

  • High Flow: Facilitates easier processing and mold filling, ideal for complex shapes and fine details.
  • Excellent Toughness and Impact Strength: Ensures durability and resistance to physical impacts, suitable for demanding applications.
  • Good Chemical Resistance and Dimensional Stability: Enhances the longevity and utility of finished products under varied environmental conditions.

Applications

  • Refrigerator Liner Sheets: Optimal for inner linings of refrigerators where durability and chemical resistance are crucial.
  • General Thin Sheets: Suitable for producing sheets used in various industrial and consumer applications.
  • Parts Requiring High Impact Resistance: Ideal for components that need to withstand significant mechanical stress.

Processing Guidelines

  • Drying: Drying prior to processing is essential in a desiccant dehumidifying hopper dryer with an inlet air dew point of 20°F (-29°C) or lower to achieve a moisture content of 0.1%. Typical drying conditions are 2 hours at 180°-190°F (82°-88°C) or 4 hours at 160°-170°F (71°-77°C).

Typical Properties

  • Melt Flow Index (200°C/5kg): 1.1 g/10 min (ASTM D-1238), indicating the material’s flow characteristics during processing.
  • Izod Impact Strength (Notched): 22 KJ/m² at 23°C (ASTM D-256), demonstrating excellent toughness.
  • Vicat Softening Point: 100°C under a 50N load (ASTM D-1525), showing the temperature at which the polymer begins to soften.
  • Bulk Density: 600 kg/m³, important for handling and storage.
  • Tensile Strength at Yield: 420 kgf/cm² (ASTM D-638), showing the material’s strength under tension.
  • Tensile Strength at Break: 390 kgf/cm² (ASTM D-638), indicating how much stress the material can withstand before breaking.
  • Elongation at Yield: 4% (ASTM D-638), measuring the deformation before yielding.
  • Elongation at Break: 60% (ASTM D-638), indicating flexibility.
  • Flexural Strength at Yield: 500 kgf/cm² (ASTM D-790), reflecting the material’s resistance to bending.
  • Flexural Modulus: 18500 kgf/cm² (ASTM D-790), demonstrating the stiffness of the material.
  • Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): 81°C at 0.45 MPa (ASTM D-648), showing the temperature at which the material deforms under load.
  • Rockwell Hardness: 107 R Scale (ASTM D-785), measuring the hardness of the material.

Conclusion

ABS SH0150 is designed for applications requiring a material with high flow properties, excellent toughness, and robust mechanical performance. This grade is particularly effective in manufacturing refrigerator liners, general thin sheets, and other components where high impact resistance and durability are essential.
